Privacy policy
Last updated:
This website uses Google Analytics only if you agree. Until you choose, no analytics cookie is set and nothing identifies you.
1. What this website collects
By default, nothing that identifies you. Every page loads the Google tag (gtag.js) in Consent Mode with every storage type set to denied: no cookie is written, and Google receives only anonymous pings without identifiers, such as the page opened, the time and a rough device type.
If you click Accept in the banner, Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (_ga and _ga_*) so it can count returning visits and show us which pages are useful. We use this only to improve the website. Advertising features are permanently off: no ad cookies, no ad personalisation, no remarketing.
Your choice is kept in your browser localStorage under the key keenrig-consent, so we do not ask again on every page. Click Cookie settings at the bottom of any page to change it; choosing Decline also deletes the Google Analytics cookies already set.
Apart from the Google tag, every page is prebuilt static HTML: no external fonts, no CDN libraries, no embedded social buttons. Checkout itself is Paddle’s secure checkout, which opens only on our /pay page and loads Paddle.js from cdn.paddle.com. You can verify this yourself: open the Network tab in your browser devtools and read the list of hosts contacted.
2. Google as a processor
Analytics data is processed by Google under its own privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy) and may be processed outside your country. It reaches us only as aggregated reports, never as a list of named visitors.
3. Server logs
The infrastructure provider serving this website processes IP addresses and request metadata at a technical level in order to deliver content to you and to prevent abuse. That is a technical condition of serving a web page rather than collection on our part, and we do not use it to identify or profile visitors.
4. When you contact us
If you email us, we keep that email in order to reply to you and to follow the conversation. Not used for anything else, not passed to anyone.
5. Other places, other policies
The cloud console (console.keenrig.com) is a separate service with a login and its own policy. It uses the same Google Analytics setup and asks for your consent separately, because each site keeps its own choice. This page covers the marketing website.
6. What about data inside the product
This is the core distinction of Keenrig and worth stating plainly here: when you install Keenrig, your applications and your data sit on your own server. A self-hosted install needs no cloud account and can run fully disconnected from us.
Backups are always encrypted with a passphrase you choose, and that passphrase is not stored on our side.
What your server does send us: with automatic upgrades on, it asks get.keenrig.com every 5 minutes which release is current, an ordinary download request that carries nothing about your apps or data. A server created from a Keenrig marketplace image (Vultr, DigitalOcean, Linode) also sends one request on its first boot, naming that marketplace and the Keenrig version, so we can count installs per marketplace. Nothing else is in it. To skip it, create the file /etc/keenrig/no-ping with the provider’s user-data field (cloud-init write_files) when you create the server.
7. Payments
Payments for paid plans are handled by Paddle, our Merchant of Record. You enter your card or other payment details in Paddle’s checkout, and those details never reach our servers.
Paddle shares with us what we need to run your account: your name, email address, country, the plan bought and the payment status. Paddle processes payment data under its own privacy policy (paddle.com/legal/privacy).
8. Your rights and how to reach us
The website keeps no personal data on our own servers. If you accepted analytics and changed your mind, choose Decline under Cookie settings: the cookies are deleted and no further identified data is sent. If you have emailed us and want that correspondence deleted, write to us.
9. Email updates (if you sign up)
If you enter your email in a signup form on this site, it is sent to Zoho Campaigns. Zoho stores it in our mailing list and sends you a confirmation email; until you confirm, you receive nothing else.
We use it only to send the news you signed up for: early access, new posts, Pro availability, an early-customer offer, major releases. Not sold, not shared. Zoho processes the data under its own policy (zoho.com/privacy.html).
Every email has an unsubscribe link. To have your address deleted entirely, write to hello@keenrig.com.
